About Me

Busan, South Korea (2019)

Hi! My name is Glenn Tedja. Some basic background: I am a Chinese American born and raised in the Bay Area of California. Even though I am ethnically 100% Chinese, because of my parents being born in Indonesia I can Bahasa Indonesia fluently. My Mandarin Chinese, even after studying for years, is still shaky. I love learning languages and am interested in learning Korean and Arabic after I perfect my Mandarin. I studied Finance at Santa Clara University and graduated in June of 2022.

My parents often tell me I was born with “the weirdest obsession of hotels.” I spend almost all my free time consuming hospitality-related content, sometimes reviews just like what’s on this website and other times videos on YouTube. You could name any city in the world, and I can probably name hotels I want to visit or want to visit again. I even have a (work in progress) spreadsheet. I was literally potty trained by being bribed with a one night stay at the Hilton San Francisco.

This obsession, unlike many other "phases” I’ve had growing up, has not died out. In fact, it’s probably grown. I get told so many times by people around me that a hotel is just a place to sleep. They say the destination is the main reason they travel. For me, it’s the opposite. The hotel is an experience. The destination is great, but the hotel really makes the occasion. You can get a nice bowl of Tonkotsu ramen in many places around the world. But can you stay at one-of-a-kind properties, like the Marina Bay Sands of Singapore or The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, anywhere? To me, these properties define their cities as much as a bowl of ramen defines Tokyo.

Other than traveling, my interests include aviation, food, technology, anime/manga, and Call of Duty Esports. Check out my Apple Music profile for what I’m listening to right now.
