Introduction

The Waldorf Astoria Bangkok was the first hotel I stayed at over my 7 night trip to Bangkok, Thailand. This meant that we would also be serving the mandatory arrival quarantine at this hotel. The Test and Go package cost me $780 for the one night stay, which included airport transfer (in a Mercedes-Benz S Class), two RT-PCR COVID-19 tests, and obviously the one night in a Deluxe Suite. The second night we booked through the hotel and paid less than half that rate at $320 for the night in the same suite.

Initially, I was debating between the Park Hyatt and the Waldorf Astoria for our first couple nights in Bangkok. I was ultimately swayed by reviews online which stated the Waldorf Astoria breakfast was potentially the best in Bangkok, and as a sucker for hotel breakfasts that was enough for me. The Waldorf Astoria seemed to also have a nicer pool. I did visit the Park Hyatt Bangkok, and I do think the location of that hotel is better than the location of the Waldorf Astoria. With the Waldorf Astoria, you need to walk outside for about 5 minutes to get to the nearby Centralworld mall. The Park Hyatt is built on top of the higher-end Central Embassy mall.
